Respect

Today’s word of inspiration is RESPECT. The definition for respect is 1) a relation or reference to a particular thing or situation, 2) an act of giving particular attention, 3) high or special regard, 4) the quality or state of being esteemed.  Every time I see or hear this word, I can hear it being sung as R-E-S-P-E-C-T by Aretha Franklin!  Little did she know when she released it in 1967 it would be one of  her signature songs. You go girl!!!  Fun fact -the song was originally released by Otis Redding in 1965.  I believe that there are times when you must respect the position even if you cannot respect the person such as a boss or politician.  Respect for a role is automatically given.  Respect for a person is earned. Respect is very difficult to get back once something has been done to destroy it, not impossible but difficult.  What can you do to earn respect?  How do you judge respect?     1/9/18

“Respect your efforts, respect yourself.  Self-respect leads to self-discipline.  When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” – Clint Eastwood
